Frequently asked questions
The short version: Hit Your Apex is a private-alpha platform for 1:1 iRacing coaching. You book a verified coach, share your telemetry, and review laps together. Everything that comes out of the session is kept in a workspace that lasts.
The platform
What is Hit Your Apex?+
A coaching platform for sim racing, currently built around iRacing. You book 1:1 sessions with verified coaches, upload your .ibt telemetry files, and review laps together. Reference laps, drills, notes, and goals all stay in your session workspace after the call ends.
Is it live yet?+
We're in private alpha. The waitlist is open on the landing page. Cohort 1 gets priority booking when the alpha opens.
How do I get access?+
Access is waitlist-based. Join the waitlist on the landing page, and when we're ready to onboard your cohort you'll be notified with a unique registration link. No public signups until we're ready.
Which sims do you support?+
iRacing right now. It's the sim with the richest telemetry and the deepest competitive community. Other titles are on the roadmap; the platform is designed to extend, and we'll prioritise based on demand.
Do I need to be a good driver?+
No. Coaches work with drivers at every level. If you're racing in iRacing and want to get faster in a structured way, you're the right fit.
Sessions & coaches
How does a session work?+
You book a time with a coach from their availability. During the session you screen-share and review laps together on the platform. Your telemetry, sector splits, and delta versus reference laps are on screen in real time. After the session, the workspace keeps everything: the coach's notes, reference laps, drills, and your agreed goals.
How do I know a coach is legit?+
Every coach on the platform is verified: their iRacing profile, iRating, licenses, and car specialties are on their public profile, along with their rating and session history.
Can I coach on the platform?+
Yes. The platform is built for coaches as much as drivers. Fill in the coach form on the landing page with your background and specialties, and we'll review it. Verified coaches set their own rates and availability.
How much do sessions cost?+
Coaches set their own hourly rates, and you always see the rate before you book. Payment goes through the platform directly to the coach.
What happens after a session?+
The session workspace persists. Your coach's reference laps, the drills they set you, notes, and goals are all there for the next session. Progress is tracked across sessions, not lost in a chat thread.
Telemetry
What is a .ibt file?+
It's iRacing's telemetry file for one of your sessions. Your position on track, speed, throttle, brake, steering, gear, lap times, and session weather, sampled many times per second. It's the same format used by third-party analysis tools.
How do I get one?+
iRacing records it locally while you drive. Turn on in-car telemetry logging (default hotkey Alt + L), and the files land in Documents\iRacing\telemetry. Step-by-step walkthrough: How to get .ibt files from iRacing →
Is my telemetry private?+
Your .ibt files are only visible to the coach you book with, scoped to the sessions you share. We don't publish your data, and your files are pruned from booking sessions after a retention period unless you keep them in your own My Laps portfolio.
Does my .ibt file leave my computer?+
Not in raw form. When you upload a .ibt, it's parsed in your own browser by a local parser that runs on your machine. Only the parsed lap data needed for your sessions is uploaded. Your telemetry is never used to train AI models.
Everything else
What do I need to get started?+
An iRacing account with in-car telemetry logging enabled (our .ibt guide covers the setup), a modern browser, and a bit of track time to bring data from.
Where can I ask something that's not here?+
